"Martha’s Vineyard Community Services is dedicated to enhancing the lives of Islanders from every corner of the Vineyard community and at every point in their journey."
- Julie Fay, Executive Director
“Our community is incredibly important to me and my family, which is why I knew I had to become involved with MVCS and give back in some way just as I do in Alexandria, Virginia. As chair of the Possible Dreams Auction, my greatest hope is that everyone will feel welcome, will participate in some way and will find it in their heart to help others here on this magical island.”
- Liza May, Auction Chair

Have you ever heard the expression,
"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much?"
Thirty eight years ago, Sandy Ray and Harriet Sayre gathered together their extensive group of friends and Island year-round and summer neighbors to create the Possible Dreams Auction as a benefit for Martha’s Vineyard Community Services. In year two, Art Buchwald stepped in and along with an incredibly devoted committee and Art’s many friends and admirers, built an event that has since raised more than $11,000,000 in support of the work of the agency known as the Island’s helping hand. Over these many years, caring and generous partners have continued to build on what was created in 1979.
All funds raised through the Possible Dreams Auction support the six vital human services programs of the agency: CONNECT to end violence, Disability Services, Early Childhood Programs, Island Counseling Center, The Thrift Shop and Island Wide Youth Collaborative. As Community Services embarks on establishing new programs like The Red House (an on-Island community crisis stabilization and intervention program), this support is more important than ever in preserving the quality of life for our neighbors and friends here on the Island we love.
Please join us in making this Dream come true.
Together, we can do so much!
