Good Bye, Sweet Friend
We’ve offered many wonderful Dreams tonight, but this final Dream is a Thank You to a woman who was more than a Dream to the many lives she touched. Judy Jahries was a wife, mom, and friend to everyone she knew. She was also an avid supporter of Martha's Vineyard Community Services. Judy volunteered at the Possible Dreams Auction for 21 years. Yes, every single year Judy gave her heart, time, and many smiles to the Possible Dreams Auction. She is truly missed yet remains forever in our hearts.
In honor of Judy, her lifelong friend, artist Wendy Weldon, has donated a beautiful painting to be auctioned off in Judy's memory. Judy's daughters selected "Old Friend" because Judy loved barns. The title of this piece stirs deep feelings in Wendy: "I knew Judy for 62 years. We grew up as summer kids. She was closer to my brother’s age so I looked up to her as I did my older brothers. Judy was always kind and thoughtful. Her humor was always apparent. Judy made an effort to include others, and she made everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Judy attended my openings and complimented me on my new paintings. She was always happy to see me and her support and love meant so much to me. I hope that our Vineyard community will give generously in memory of Judy Jahries, best friend to all she knew and best friend to the Martha's Vineyard Community Services."
